NEWS: @comma_ai just wrapped COMMA_HACK 7, the weekend hackathon where builders ship real projects on comma hardware, the comma four is more than a device to drive your car. Top three winning projects:🧵 On X
First place (@ugtthis) turned a comma four into a GoPro-style action cam. The COMMA_HACK 7 recap video was shot on that build. On X
Second place (@firestar5683) built live road-scene music that will ship in his own fork, StarPilot. Can't wait to re-download StarPilot and try for myself! On X
Third place (@ExplodingCB and @kaileh57) restored navigate on openpilot. They showed an 8 km disengagement-free BeamNG demo, they're also spinning that work into a new openpilot fork called Turnpilot. … On X

@wayve_ai is end to end driving AI out of the UK. Already on supervised Uber rides in London, now a production deal with Mercedes. Interesting form factor. Roof bar for cameras and radar, not a lidar tower. On X

comma four with an eGPU now has equivalent compute to a HW4 Cybertruck. @comma_ai is hosting COMMA_HACK 7 today in San Diego where teams build with openpilot and the eGPU Chestnut. This year the event is built around the eGPU and more compute. The first chestnut-class model in 0.11.2 has 30x the parameters and 100x the FLOPs of the latest on-device model. Chestnut runs very well in my Model Y. Can't wait to see what this year's teams come up with. On X

NEWS 🧵: @comma_ai's homepage live counter just crossed 400,600,000 fleet miles driven. … nearly 9 years after the first EON dashcam devkit, that “totally can’t steer” camera grew into 30,000 users and over 400 million miles. On X
… They called it a DevKit so it sat outside the drive-kit regulatory box. Out of box, the device captured video only and did not steer. Users needed to add a panda and install openpilot themselves to enable steering. On X
EON Dashcam DevKit was a OnePlus phone in a custom windshield case. It ran a dashcam OS, Waze, and Spotify. The shop page said it was not designed to drive a car. On X
